We know it's just a bunch of soft paint and hard edges sprinkled here and there.. so why can't we paint like this? What's the secret behind it

he paints roughly around 4000x4000, atlesat his older stuff was. but to get that effect really you just paint around there and make sure you dont paint zoomed in so much, RJ paints like any other digital artist its just the technique he uses a lot of people dont take advantage of. especially on here. everyone is so fixated on good brush strokes for pieces like these when thats only 10% of whats going on. the other 90% is just how the painting is viewed at the proper scale. usually its just where you can see the entire thing, has to be 1:1. at that distance lots of hard edges and mid level soft strokes appear very soft. very soft strokes can appear way different closer up. but they dont have a huge effect at the proper distance.

Is this clashing character designs? Does Sonic mesh well with the NPCs in Station Square? I always kind of liked this kind of clash were the humans are more normal proportioned anime characters and the creatures are cartoony creatures with all varying proportions, another example would be Pokémon or the moogle and chocobos in Snes-psx era Final Fantasy. How do I implement this in a story without making the humans look to different from non-humans?

I drew it in my sketchbook (duh), it, s A4 sized non watercolour paper. I did the outline with pencil, used pen for the outline, then coloured it with watercolour.

When doing the skin I thinned the watercolor a lot and applied it carefully, often using a clean wet brush to spread rhe paint on the papet, I also used a reference (its a cosplayer), though its not a 1:1 copy.

Maybe a few fans here and there but money-wise if i'm not able to make money right away then i'll have to be responsible and get a career somewhere else temporarily.
Just because you didn't make a living off art doesn't mean you have to abandon it completely.

>writting is harder than art, due to the simple fact that people who read aren't niggers. if you're writting it means the people have some brain cells and since you have no perdy pictures to distract them

True, but herein lies the hardest thing about writing: getting an audience.

I don't read as much as I used to since these days I generally just put most of my free time into grinding drawing, but if I am in the mood to read something I would much rather read something from my backlog than wasting 20-30 minutes on some new guy's writing to see if it's worth reading or not.

With drawings/comics you can just give it a glance and see if it's worth your time or not, plus the thing with comics is that good or engaging writing (panelling) can cover for bad art (e.g. OPM), and comics with shit writing can still be worth a read if the art is great.

I can't say I disagree with you though. If you want to find an audience for a story in this day and age, you have to bait people with elements that are easy for someone to become curious about in the event of a chance encounter, like beautiful visuals, a great soundtrack, some kind of dumb "intriguing" gameplay gimmick or similar.

Recently I've had the idea of writing a story or poetry and painting illustrations to accompany them. It would essentially be a picture book, but saying that makes it sound like it's for kids. The idea was inspired by Paradise Lost and Gustave Dore's illustrations that go with the story.

Is this idea in any way feasible?

thinkin in terms of pragmatism as opposed to maximizing personal choice and liberty already makes you fundamentally opposed to libertarianism. A libertarian might make concessions, but not in this way. Talks like "pragmatism" and "limited upsides" aren't things you hear lolberts say. You'd hear "liberty" and "personal freedom". A libertarian thing to say would be even if drugs do no good you should absolutely be free to use them, it's your choice to make retarded decisions after all. There's a sliding scale of this sort of thought and you aren't even at the end of what I would call somewhat libertarian, you're infact probably more authoritarian than the average amerimutt.

I think we just have a fundamental misunderstanding. Any libertarian would say it would be perfectly fine to have a contract between two neighbors, let's say, that agreed to not allow open transfer or availability of narcotics, the number of people entering that contract makes no difference. The difference is, I don't get to force you and your neighbors to agree(via enacting a non voluntary agreement ie law). But, some of libertarianism is very much an ideological exercise, and people aren't used to thinking about it in workable terms I find.
Also, don't mistake anarchy for it, part of an example of perhaps a broadest reaching hypothetical contract for instance, would probably disinclude murder as a "right." Whether it's "purely libertarian" or not is somewhat less important.

what matters is your intentions, not how you arrived at whatever conclusions you come to. If your intention is to restrict liberties, whether you think thats pragmatic or not or whatever is totally irrelevant.

With 100% personal liberty comes 100% personal responsibility. I never said I was a purist, you can throw in all sorts of labels. You could call me a constitutionalists, a volutarist, etc to varying degrees. The discussion of the degree to which a liberty infringes another's via liability is a major contention with libertarian thought exercises. It's easy to see why people consider it as much unworkable nonsense as communism.
That being said, whatever you call me, I believe a legal system fundamentally built around protecting the rights of the smallest minority- the individual is best. Possibly even the only workable solution. A system in which volition at least supercedes force, even if it can never fully replace it due to nothing more than human nature.
But thats probably enough /pol/ and /blog/

I want to sell prints and/or t-shirt designs. My question is what type of art is the most desirable in that market, can you link any example as to what you consider worth buying?

Also are there any people here who sustain themselves from selling prints and/or designs? My plan is to go from that point where I can earn some sustainable amount of money selling stuff while increasing my skills to the point I can go after more profitable ways of doing art, so any advice would be extremely helpful.

Hello friends. I want to confess that lately have been difficult times for me and my wife. The distance has been torturing us, so I want to make a gift for her. Would you help me by writing the following on a piece of paper? "Natalia, Fabián's love for you is so great that it resounded in *Tour country*" Honestly, I would really appreciate it. Thanks guys.
