I mean, is the "gazillions and gazillions of gods for everything" style of D&D settings really that far-off from Hindu mythology?

Is the petitioner reincarnation cycle of the Great Wheel also that far-off from Hindu mythology? I dare say that the Great Wheel cosmology and its gods are significantly more Hindu-inspired than European-inspired.

>Hinduism is not a polytheism it is a pantheism or monism

Hinduism covers a lot of things but your statement's not right. Dvaita is dualism not monism.

You specified monism or pantheism when pantheism is already a type of monism. Why specifically include pantheism when you leave out Vaishnavas who are panentheistic and comprise a huge group of Hindus?

>In fact Hindus believe that Jesus was one of Vishnu's many mortal incarnations. The Buddha also.

Vaishnavas might believe that. Shaivites will have a different opinion.

hey /tg/, my friend and I are really interested in roleplaying games but we have no idea how or where to get started.
is dnd 5e better than pathfinder? I've only played a roleplaying game once before (for one session), it was pathfinder, I remember there were lots of cool classes and stuff. does 5e have that?
we're also interested in WoD and Don't Rest Your Head (i been reading the rulebook for Don't Rest Your Head, it seems pretty cool)
where are we supposed to find people to play (we are in different states, so preferably on the internet) and how are we supposed to get started?

I always thought the dice rolling was supposed to be a fail condition in dnd, you roll the dice because your player skill failed to solve the challenge. The ability to manipulate the probabilities is quite small.

>> No.77858491

Well, it depends.
If your players are new, it's a good experience to start off at lvl 1 and gradually get more powerful.
But if your GM is the new one and your players are too, it COULD be bad. In part, this is b/c, like >>77853149 said, it's more boring. But specifically, if the GM isn't using xp, but rather waypoints to level the players, and the players skip some of the crucial events on accident, and the GM doesn't just have the players level anyway, they can be stuck at lower levels with fewer fun abilities longer. This happened to my group during the first campaign I ran.

I think it's more fun to start the players off at level 3-5 and just play a high lvl campaign sometimes, instead of having to raise up your characters from lvl 1.

If I bring up Pax Emancipation, for example, on here, I get one guy saying he likes that game and 3 people calling me a fag, and that's about as far as the discussion goes. Every once in awhile we get a little more depth than that, but you're fucking delusional if you think this place is quality alternative to anything.

The guy used his cleric forge ability to make his armor +1 full plate and had a dancing (I think it was that) shield. He could activate the shield as a bonus action for another +2 AC and it can still give that bonus even with a 2h weapon because it levitate around you for a minute. I'd say Clerics have the better late-game spells. Wish has too great a drawback for not terribly enough payoff so I never see anyone use it. Simulacrum cheese was so broken it was killed by errata very quick. Clerics have amazing spells from 6th level and up.

Yes, that is how I will respond to my own post.

>everything must be categorized as a derivative of mtg or ygo so that it fits my tightly-constrained view of things
Holy strawman, please point out where I said Netrunner was derived from either of those?
>Does everything have to be "just a magic clone" to satisfy some sort of autism
How does noticing something took clear design inspiration from something else make it a clone?

I'm trying to figure out the layout of a foundry, including the "throne room", for a small, post-apocalyptic feudal settlement with the foundry at its center.

It's really cold in this apocalypse (warmer than Frostpunk, colder than the Road), so the warrior and engineer/smith castes get to sleep relatively close to the warmth of the molten metal, and I want the throne room to be pretty aesthetic/cool.

Problem is, I don't really know anything about foundries or their floorplans. I've looked up videos and have a floor plan for one which I'll post momentarily), but I have no idea how cluttered the largest floor areas would be and where the best place to put the "throne" would be without interrupting the labor that needs to occur in there.

I think part of the idea is that the higher your rank, the warmer you get to be, so I feel like the king should be really close to the fires/molten steel.

Any other ideas for this settlement would also be appreciated

Just an update: I think it'll be at a full steel mill, not just a foundry. Something more like this:

Maybe I could put the "throne room" in one of the forges?

>> No.77849236

With all the crazy shit that can go wrong at a foundry, especially when you aren't trained or wearing PPE, I don't think you would put a throne room anywhere near the danger zone of a foundry. The fine particles and heat would be irritating to be around all the time anyway, even if the world outside is cold.

I COULD see the throne room being built over looking the foundry through layers of bullet proof glass and steel cages. You might even take inspiration from a "panopticon" prison if the government is meant to be authoritarian.

>> No.77849814

If you drilled cross-sectional holes toward the end of a thermal lance, would heat come out of the sides? Could you alter one in such a way that it could become a weapon?

What you would really do in this situation is use water pipes to move the heat to areas that aren't right in the middle of a fucking industrial disaster zone

>> No.77850142

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind lol

Any idea for what could make a cool throne room in a steel mill? Maybe a boiler house instead?

Or maybe clearing out one of the larger buildings and fitting it with ornamental shit to make it look cooler? I'm now thinking about maybe having a furnace placed a dug-out hole in the middle of a warehouse or something that they can open from the top to a) provide warmth and b) act as an "execution pit"

Gun is arguably of limited usage. Problem being HRT is 4 pts for Rat 5 + 3d6 on a Rng 12, Rof 1, Pow 8, Armor Piercing gun.

So the gun alone isn't worth it. Arguably the blades are your biggest interest but one issue that you run into is that a Banshee which is 18/16 and Grevious Wounds is just 18 pts.

I think its RAT 6 now. I like how it can deal with armor with out a buff, and rng 2 on both blades. It is way similar to the Banshee for sure.

>> No.77850610

It is Rat 6 for the gun on the Aeternae, but this is more of a question about PC cost. If you want an armor piercing gun there are far cheaper options. If you want a beatstick, the Banshee is arguably better for 1 pt more, or you could drop 3 points for the Manticore and still be better as a beat stick though with lower weapon range. The Aeternae is in one of those cases like the F35. It tries to do two things and suffers in both for being a generalist while carrying a big price tag. Usually the passives help here whether they are on the gun or on the Aeternae itself, but it got a barebones gun, and a passive that is only active in certain builds.

did it also have anything to do with anubis? i know later on in classical a tiquity egypt fever was all the rage and there was a good deal of syncronism of egyptian and greek concepts Hermes Trismegistus with thoth and otherwise. i could see thematically why in adition to making it only 3 heads, also making those heads canine.
