Honestly, I can't say. I used to really enjoy Tomb Kings and the other WHFantasy jumps she made, but it's been years since I've read them, and my standards have changed. I remember Oasis of Fantasy as being decent enough, even if I'm generally not a fan of the power-levels it covers. She's never really been one of "the greats", but there used to be a time when I looked forward to Val jumps. How much of that change is me and how much her, who knows, but now I'm ambivalent to them at best.

Oh, no, I totally agree there. The wank factor has decreased noticeably. Mechanically, she's definitely improved. But in terms of shit like fluff and flavor, none of her recent jumps have particularly stood out to me. And then there's a factor of "does this all need to be here". Bleach felt like it had dozens of perks for accomplishing the same, slightly different thing. Like "you're good at combat" "you're good at combat, but..." "you're good at swords" "you're good at swords, but..." and it just got tiresome to read. Redundancy is good practice if you're (bio-)engineering, but if you're doing artistic/creative, it can really bring down the quality of your work. It's indulgent, and the impact is lost every time an idea is repeated.
